Shattered dreams…

Friday, October 3rd, 2014

Clutch 16 is out and it's one I've been waiting to hatch since 2010 when I got my first orange dream! I've been moving towards producing a black pastel/orange dream/pinstripe combo for the past four years and on my one shot to do it this year not only did I hatch one, but I hatched TWO! Feast your eyes on the shattered dream!

This is a shot of him next to a black pastel pinstripe from the same clutch...

Two holdback girls!

Friday, September 26th, 2014

Orange dream enchi and super vanilla pastel... love the extreme colors on these two! On a side note, it always blows my mind to hear someone say they don't care for vanilla. I'll take a nice vanilla over a fire any day, if you tried to make this with a fire you'll just end up with a white snake!

Breeding loan with Aeonic Exotics…

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Here's the four hatchlings I just got in from a breeding loan with Aeonic Exotics. 1.0 coral glow pin, 2.0 coral glows, and 0.1 ghi! 😀

Orange dream fire pinstripe at 400 grams…

No explanation needed. 😀

Orange dream enchi!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2014

Orange dream enchi after her first shed... SO hot. Can't wait to see this girl in a couple of years. 😀

More het clown stuff!

Monday, September 1st, 2014

I've been slacking off on producing het clown stuff for the past few years but I'm finally moving in the right direction! In addition to the enchi het clowns I hatched out earlier this season, I just hatched out a male Barnhart black pastel yellowbelly and a female Barnhart black pastel -- both het for clown! 😀

Super vanilla pastels!

Friday, August 29th, 2014

Clutch number 12 is fully hatched! This pairing was my smoking pastel vanilla male to a very nice vanilla female. Results are 1.2 super vanilla pastels, 0.2 vanilla pastels, 1.0 pastel, 1.1 vanillas, and 1.0 normal. All but the female super vanilla pastels will available from this clutch.

Orange dream enchi!

Thursday, August 28th, 2014

Clutch 11 (orange dream pinstripe X enchi) is all out! Final tally is 1.0 od pin, 1.0 enchi pin, 1.0 enchi, 1.0 pin, and 0.1 od enchi. Figures that the one animal I actually wanted to be a male is the only one that isn't! Just one more girl to raise up I guess. 😉

Orange dream vanilla!

Saturday, August 23rd, 2014

The orange dream vanilla female that I hatched out just had her second shed!  The orange dream fire has an advantage right now being that orange dreams get brighter with each shed and she's already past her third shed.  I'm pretty happy with how the vanilla combo turned out, and can't wait to see her after another couple of sheds!  From left to right: orange dream, orange dream vanilla, orange dream fire.

Holdback girls…

Saturday, August 16th, 2014

Couple of holdback girls just shed... orange dream fire and Barnhart black pastel lesser. 😀

Pinstripe stuff!

Friday, August 15th, 2014

Thought this was a cool little comparison/progression picture. From left to right: pinstripe, orange dream pinstripe, orange dream pinstripe fire.

Comparison shots from clutch BP14-02!

Tuesday, June 24th, 2014

Couple of comparison photos from clutch number two! The first image is a pair of Barnhart black pastel lessers with a Barnhart black pastel yellowbelly lesser in the middle. Second image is a lesser yellowbelly next to a lesser. All three are combos that I haven't seen very often...

Clutch ten!

Tuesday, June 24th, 2014

Clutch number ten! This good looking lemonblast is part of a joint project between myself and Aeonic Exotics. She was bred by my dream bee male, so hopefully there's a quad or two in these eight eggs!

Results of clutch number two!

Monday, June 16th, 2014

Clutch number two is fully hatched! The pairing was Barnhart black pastel yellowbelly X lesser. Final tally is 1.0 black pastel yellowbelly lesser, 2.0 black pastel lessers, 1.0 black pastel yellowbelly, 0.1 black pastel, 0.1 lesser yellowbelly, and 1.0 lesser. A little male heavy, but I'm still pretty happy with the turnout! As a result, most of this clutch will be available once they start eating.

Barnhart black pastel lesser stuff…

Monday, June 16th, 2014

Well this was nice to wake up to! Now to figure out if the odd one is the triple... The parents of this clutch were Barnhart black pastel yellowbelly x lesser.

First combo out!

Sunday, June 15th, 2014

First combo out of the egg for clutch number two is this hot little Barnhart black pastel yellowbelly male!

Hurry up already!

Sunday, June 15th, 2014

Don't make me get the spoon out...

Another ovulation!

Saturday, June 14th, 2014

Another ovulation! This black pastel girl was bred to my orange dream pinstripe. I think this triple could be interesting!

Sneak peak!

Friday, June 13th, 2014

Clutch number two should be hatching in the next couple of days... looks like there might be something cool in here... 😉

Clutch one is done!

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014

First clutch of the year is fully hatched, and we managed to hit on a 1 in 16 snake in a five egg clutch!  Unfortunately it was on the wrong end of the spectrum... instead of an orange dream spinner blast it was a normal.  Otherwise the odds weren't too bad.  Ended up with 1.1 orange dream pins, 0.1 pinstripe, 0.1 spinner blast, and 0.1 normal.

And the first hatchling of the year…

Monday, June 9th, 2014

Is this hot little orange dream pinstripe girl!

Super enchi possible het hypos…

Thursday, June 5th, 2014

This is the pair of super enchi possible het hypo girls I produced in 2013, both weighing about 800 grams. I've got a pretty good feeling that at least one of them is carrying the hypo gene...

Today’s project…

Saturday, May 31st, 2014

Didn't get as much done today as I would have liked with having to go in to work this morning, but I did manage to get this rack built to replace some water damaged ones that have been out of commission. Guess today wasn't totally unproductive!

Sometimes plans change!

Thursday, May 29th, 2014

Any ball python breeder that's been doing this for a few years probably knows what it's like to spend hours if not days mapping out and deciding their possible pairings at the beginning of each season.  They also probably know what it's like to throw that plan out the window on a moment's whim!  I had my albino projects mapped out a few years ahead beginning in 2010.  In 2010 I produced my male albino spider.  I then planned to breed him to one of my black pastel girls with the hope of hatching out a black pastel spider het albino.  I did hit one of those in 2012, but it was a female.  Instead I held back a male black pastel het albino with the intention of breeding him to both of my albino girls this season to produce some black pastel albinos, and then my years of planning went out the window! I picked up this butter het albino a couple of months ago, he's out of quarantine and locking up with my big 3000+ gram albino girl who is well into development.  She laid 10 eggs for me in 2012, so here's hoping for a good clutch of albino butters, which will definitely go well with the various het albino morph girls I'm already raising up! 😀

Barnhart black pastel comparison

Tuesday, May 27th, 2014

These are a couple of Barnhart line black pastels that were produced from my Barnhart line black pastel yellowbelly male.  They're the same age, though the female is slightly larger.  I wonder if this is just natural variation in the black pastel gene or if it could be due to the elusive third gene that is suspected to cause the extreme look in the Barnhart black pastel yellowbelly combo?
